Chamber success SPECIAL REPORT Multimedia project will aid business A new multimedia presentation for the Chamber is now being created and should be ready eariy next year. The Chamber was one of a five-slrong consortium which won a £30,000 award under the DTI's Information Society. Initiative's Multimedia Demonstrator Programme aimed at improving busines s performance. To win the award the Consortium - which also included TDS Cad-Graphics. Groupe Panache, Abbey Telecom and Blackburn College - devised a project to develop a multimedia presentation system to help members of the Chamber with marketing and business development. A further objective of the ambitious project is to create an East Lancashire Digital Archive of the multimedia images which numbers can access and re-use. Under the project presentations will be created for the partners in the Consortium. The one currently being created for the chamber was previewed at the Open Day. It is hoped companies will then be able to use the presentations created under the project to give them a head start in having their own produced. The Digital Archive is intended to contain images of excellence from a broad spectrum of subject areas including manufacturing, commercial property, leisure and tourism and organisers are now looking for suitable images for inclusion. Michael Damms, chief executive of the Chamber Of Commerce. travelled to London to accept the award from lan Taylor, the government's Science And Technology Minister. They are pictured above. |
